Zheng Qirong

Former Professor and Vice President, China Foreign Affairs University

Zheng Qirong is former Professor and Vice President of the China Foreign Affairs University. He has long been engaged in teaching and research on the United Nations and other international organizations, and previously served as Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of the university. Following his retirement, he remains actively involved in research on international organizations as well as in the selection and training of related talent. In 2000, he was awarded the Special Government Allowance by the State Council of China in recognition of his academic contributions. He has held a number of prominent expert roles, including Lead Chief Expert for the Ministry of Education’s “Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project” (Ma Project) textbook International Organizations, reviewer for the National Social Science Fund in international studies, and evaluator for Ministry of Education social science projects. He also served as Deputy Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center on Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights (China’s “2011 Plan”) and Director of its sub-center at China Foreign Affairs University, as well as an expert reviewer for international organization talent programs of the China Scholarship Council. Professor Zheng has also held concurrent positions such as Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society of International Law, Vice President of the China National Association for International Studies in Universities, and Executive Director of the China United Nations Association.
