Ding Yifan

French Studies

Professor Ding Yifan is a Yiyang Chair Professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), a visiting professor in the Department of French, and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Etude Francophones. He formerly served as Deputy Director of the Institute of World Development under the Development Research Center of the State Council. He is Vice President of the China Society of World Economics, a Standing Council Member of the Chinese Association for European Studies, and Vice President of its French Studies Branch. He also serves as an expert for several major Chinese think tanks. His publications include The Great Trend: Economic Globalization and China’s Challenges, The Euro Era, Great Wisdom: The Knowledge Economy and Its Challenges to China, Financial Games on the Balance Beam: From Debt Crisis to Financial Crisis, Critique of the United States: The Paradox of Liberal Empire Expansion, US Hegemony (co-authored) and Insights from the European Debt Crisis. He has published dozens of academic papers and several hundred articles in national newspapers and magazines. He is proficient in English and French and has published articles in both languages in international journals. In recent years, invited by major media outlets including China Central Television (CCTV), he has frequently participated in forums and events as an expert on international relations and the world economy. He graduated from the Department of French at Beijing Foreign Studies University (then Beijing Foreign Studies Institute) and later taught there. He then pursued studies in France, earning a PhD in Political Science from the University of Montesquieu Bordeaux IV. He was also a visiting scholar at School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
