Bao Yuhan

Governance of emerging technology Biosecurity Environment governance

Dr. Yuhan BAO is a Lecturer at the School of International Organizations, Beijing Foreign Studies University. His research mainly focuses on science and technology policy and the governance of emerging technologies, especially biosecurity. He is the deputy director of the Youth Working Group of the Synthetic Biology Branch of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology and the coordinator for the Human Practices Committee in the iGEM competition, where he is responsible for fostering the culture of responsibility within the world's largest synbio scientists community. He is also a Youth for Biosecurity Fellow of UNODA in 2024 and has participated in international biosecurity events such as BWC and CBD several times.

He holds a Ph.D. in Public Management from the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University (2018–2024), where his research focused on the governance of synthetic biology. During his doctoral studies, he was a Visiting PhD Student in Science and Technology Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex (2019–2020). He earned an M.S. in Environmental Science (Environmental Law and Management track) from the School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Peking University (2016–2018), as well as a B.E. in Environmental Engineering (2012–2016) and a B.A. in Law (second major, 2013–2016) from Tsinghua University.
